Treasurer’s Report: Dave Kapitzke
Balance sheet and Profit & Loss statements were handed out and reviewed. The figures were confusing as they reflected the calendar year rather than the curling season. Dave will run the reports with the curling season in the future.
Checking/Savings Account balance - $9,372.93
New Business:
Rocks:
In the past month there were e-mail correspondence regarding the quality of rocks that we are in process of buying from Hibbing Curling Club.
Tom Jones explained that there are granite and porcelain rocks. Granite rocks are the best quality, curl more and have the highest price tag. Porcelain rocks are second in quality to granite rocks. The rocks that Hibbing has for sale are porcelain rocks and the money being charge is reflective of this kind of rock.
Tom read the letter sent to Paul Vendetti, Hibbing Club president which recapped the cost- $12,800, date of purchase – August 1, 2008 and that payment in full will be made at the time of pick up. A copy of this letter has been placed in the Secretary’s folder.
The current rocks purchased from USCA need to be returned to a location where USCA directs us to ship. Shipping has been prepaid. Al Rogers will contact Bev at National and find out the details of returning the rocks; boxes required, palletized, pick up location and shipping address.
It was agreed that we would not ship the rocks until we have confirmation that Hibbing will go through with the deal.
Fair Booth
Fair dates – Tuesday July 29 through Saturday August 2, 2008, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Need sign up sheet for workers. Jill will contact John Raboin for master list of e-mail addresses so that members can be contacted to take shifts. It was suggested that there be four 3 hour shifts per day.
Members thought a handout card should be printed and available to handout to people who stopped by the booth. Caren Bedard will write up a draft of this card and present it at the next meeting. The card should be generic enough to be used for other functions.
Brat Sale
Dates of Brat sale – Friday August 29 and Saturday August 30 at Cub Foods in Baxter.
Hours of operation - 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p. m. plus ½ hour for prep and ½ hour for cleanup. Therefore members need to cover the hours between 10:30 and 5:30 p.m.

Old Business
Building – Mike Deiss
Members of the committee were reviewed, Chairman Mike Deiss, Mike Hoff, Jim Axtell, John Raboin, Jack Christofferson.
The building committee thought they would like to focus their efforts on fund raising monies for the cost of the building. Tom Jones would prefer that the Fund Raising committee have this as their main focus. The Fund Raising members need the support of the building committee.
Fund Raising – Mike Hoff
Mike presented the idea of a Pine Wood Derby. More details to follow.
Promotional clothing and equipment sales
Gary’s Bar in Crosby donated $150. This amount reflects a % kick back of curling club members purchases in the 2007-08 season.
